Rise - Film Opening

While watching this clip, I felt inspired by the long hours of practice that the character went through something that's further evoked by the music that is being played through the headphones. At the end, the close up shots that's taken of the soccer player and the stranger is intense and shows that the history between the two is intense in either a complicated or hateful way.

Dear Lover

The opening in this film is soft and mellow due to the music and cuts to different parts of the scenery that the main character is most likely looking it. Then, the scenes go on with a voiceover that explains where she is now and her motivations behind it.

Dare to Thrill Film Opening Daniel Garzon

This opening is fast and intense and the hype builds up as the music goes up higher. When the group of kids find the car keys, the shots are diagonal and shaky when they're in the car and the music is louder than their screams of thrill shows how incoherent and impulsive their decision is. At the end when they hit a bump and the adrenaline dies down, they realize what car they had stolen and flee from it.

Always Watching Film Opening

This short film shows the life of Kane that's filled with an endless obsession with his best friend Noah to the point of harming him because of his jealousy. The shots near the end with Noah looking into the mirror and it switches from Kane and Noah shows how far gone he is and would abandon his own life for one he doesn't even know the full details of.

The Blue Boar (Film Opening)

The opening is of a girl who lives a strict life and is a daydreamer looking for an escape. Despite her lecture, the music is lighthearted, showcasing her optimism and at the end when she crafts a shape out of the flora surrounding her, it shows the respect she has for her mother as she doesn't draw but she finds a way to enjoy herself.

White Coat

From the beginning of this film, the music is ominous and each shot captures the intensity of the situation. The smoke symbolizes the confusion that the audience and the kidnapped person feels.

Stalker.

For this opening, it starts off as a normal waking up routine until camera flashes are heard. The girl dismisses herself as being paranoid and goes on with her life until the next day of school where she gets a note that sends her running to her car. The music in this film is subtle until moments of terror show up and awaken the character to her situation.

This opening jumps back and forth between the present and the elderly woman reminiscing on her past, from the neighborhood she lived in, the surrounding scenery, and her husband. The thoughts bring her joy and comfort. Soon she is switched out with a child actress and they both look at the distance. One looks back on all she's done and the other wonders about the future.

Overall, the 9 short films were amazing, each bringing its own message and creativity to light whether it be through words, a sequence, or music. They all share the fact that they credit the people involved in the opening. My personal favorite was Dare to Thrill. The wild camera movement and loud music that overpowers the characters voices really captures the moment of impulse and reckless fun that halts to a stop at the end. The brainstorming process in the opening film is rather amateur since it's our first but the films that I just saw  especially since they're independent films  emphasized the importance of a title sequence that credits everything and everyone involved and puts the ending of the project into perspective the broad vision that will be the end product.
